How to Verify Any Auto Appraiser
- Ask for their ASCAA certification number. Real ASCAA members will provide this immediately and it can be cross-checked at the ASCAA website.
- Confirm USPAP compliance. USPAP is the federal standard adopted by the Appraisal Foundation. Reports that do not cite USPAP are not professionally compliant.
- Check the domain name carefully. Some operators use hyphenated variants (orlando-autoappraisers.com instead of orlandoautoappraisers.com) of well-known appraiser sites to confuse consumers. These dashed-domain sites are not affiliated with Orlando Auto Appraisers.
- Check BBB and Google reviews for the legal business name behind the site, not just the marketing name. Many copycat sites share a single toll-free number across many city-named domains.
- Ask whether the appraiser is licensed as an insurance adjuster in your state. Florida appraisers handling insurance disputes should be licensed adjusters.
- Ask whether they will personally appear as an expert witness if your claim ends up in court. Many low-cost appraisers will not.
